In 2004, Southside began work with Baja Missions, south of Ensenada on the Baja peninsula. There we planted a church in Camlu. Every year a team from Southside has returned to assist the church by teaching, building, evangelizing, preparing food and serving medical needs. This has become a mission field supported in a team effort with churches in Tennessee and Ohio working along side of Southside in serving the people in Camalu.
Susana Homes: Nigeria
Chi Ekwenye, a native Nigerian, educated at the University of Georgia, followed a vision to help children in her native land to have an opportunity to grow with a home and family that loved them. Susana Homes became a reality in October 1998 and Southside has been involved since 2000. Presently, 40 children are housed by Susana Homes and in 2010 Southside started a dorm building project for the boys. God bless all these children with the heart of Chi who loves like Jesus.
Chilean Missions: Santiago, Chile
In the 1980’s, Southside was instrumental in the beginning of missions work in Chile through the work of Don Henson. We currently supported Milton Munoz and Pedro Sanchez, two native ministers. These men have the heart of evangelists and their zeal is gift from God and a blessing to those lost sheep in Chile, and throughout South America. They frequently travel to other countries in the region and truly see the church as being where two or more are gathered in His name.
In 2004, Mark and Debbie Van Dyke left Southside to go to the Philippines on a temporary job assignment. They found immediate opportunities to work in the building of the church in Cebu through the Cebu Bible College and church planting. When the "temporary" job assignment was concluding, God led the VanDyke's to request a permanent one and they have been blessing the Philippine people every since.
In February 2011, Ronald and Caidy Quilaton joined the mission field. Ronald is a teacher at Cebu Bible College. They have been instrumental in starting a new congregation and beginning their 818 Ministry to the street children in Cebu. Check out their blog at 818minstry.blogspot.com.
